Dogs at the hotel

Would you like to bring your best friend to the hotel? Please contact us to book a dog-friendly room.

Can you bring your dog to the hotel? Of course. Båstad is a dream destination for your four-legged friend too. Here you can find out how to book a dog-friendly room and discover some lovely walks to enjoy with your dog – both short and long.

Book a dog-friendly room

Our dog-friendly rooms are located in our detached villas, each with a private entrance, making it easy to come and go without disturbing guests with allergies. The rooms feature a private entrance, a bedroom with two single beds and a bathroom. A living room with a sofa bed can be added as an option.

If you would like to book a room for you and your dog, please contact our reservations team at bokning@hotelskansen.se or call +46 431 55 82 11. Please note that dogs must always be booked in advance. We have a limited number of dog-friendly rooms, and an additional cleaning fee applies.

Dogs are welcome on the restaurant terrace and at Mr G. Please let us know when booking your table if you are bringing your dog, and we will find a suitable table for you.

Our favourite dog walks

Just outside the hotel, you’ll mostly find tennis courts and cobbled streets, but across the road is Dahlmanska tomten, a small green space watched over by a statue of local superstar Birgit Nilsson. Or head down the street to the seafront meadow below the hotel, with plenty of grass, trees and bushes to sniff and explore.

Dogs who love the great outdoors can take their owners up the hill to Pershögsskogen (walk up Kyrkogatan, cross Köpmansgatan and follow Munkgatan to the forest). A beautiful trail winds its way through the beech forest and up the ridge. Expect lush, hilly terrain and, as a reward at the top, fantastic views across Båstad.

For a shorter walk, we recommend the hidden little gem Nobelparken, located where Lindallén meets Ludvig Nobels Allé (about 150 metres west). Otherwise, the seafront promenade is an obvious choice for both short strolls and longer walks.

Follow the seafront promenade west and you’ll pass the impressive villas of western Båstad before reaching Paulins brygga. Beyond it lies a beautiful green stretch with grazing animals, where keeping your dog on a lead is particularly important. The gravel path ends below Norrviken, a lovely destination for a longer walk, with the chance to stop for coffee and a bowl of water at Chocolaterian. On your way back, don’t miss the beautifully restored Lejongapstrappan staircase connecting the seafront promenade with Ludvig Nobels Allé.

Head east along the seafront promenade instead and you’ll pass the harbour before continuing through Malen, with its turn-of-the-century villas and large gardens. From there, the route takes you past the small Malenskogen woodland, Stensån river and Riviera. It’s a wonderfully varied walk, with the option of following the promenade, forest paths, the riverbank, or walking along the beach and dunes.

Dogs are welcome on the beach at any time between 15 September and 1 May. During the bathing season, from 1 May to 15 September, dogs are allowed on the beach before 8 am and after 6 pm, in accordance with local regulations.

In Malenskogen, just above Hotel Riviera Strand, there is a large enclosed dog exercise area (Hundängen), where dogs can run freely and meet other dogs. A little further east, by Rivierabron, there is a dog-friendly beach where dogs are welcome at any time of day, all year round.

We hope you and your dog enjoy your stay with us!
